The preferred treatment for tongue-tied is frenectomy combined with functional rehabilitation of the tongue. Functional rehabilitation of the tongue will begin one week before the frenectomy, when the patient will receive guidance on the exercise that will be required in the coming weeks. The purpose of this protocol is to teach the patient to perform the exercises to rehabilitate the movement of the tongue without any pain. This study demonstrates that the combination of the frenectomy with exercises, resulting an excellent therapeutic outcome.
